There are more than a few social media stars dotted throughout Greater Hamilton, none more photogenic than Dunkeld’s newest canine influencer.
Meet Billie the Cavoodle. Her Instagram account is beginning to take our region by storm. @cavoodle.billie looks so fabulous adventuring around the Greater Hamilton and Southern Grampians region largely because her owner Angela Kenna is a professional photographer. Though Angela typically takes family, newborn and wedding portraits, she utilises all of her photography tricks to ensure that each photo of Billie is as endearing as the last. Who doesn’t love a gorgeous doggo with a stunning mountain backdrop?

Billie’s Instagram portfolio is filled with photos taken within the Greater Hamilton region. With Angela very recently moving to Dunkeld, she hasn’t been short of inspiration for the next spot to capture Billie, who is always ready for a photo. We sat down with Angela for a quick catch-up.
What brought you to the Greater Hamilton region?
I’ve always loved the Greater Hamilton region. I remember travelling to Hamilton, Dunkeld and Halls Gap as a child. I love the scattered gum trees and the small–town atmosphere. Growing up on a dairy farm and in a strong farming family, my love of animals and regional Victoria blossomed. As well as being a photographer, I’m also a teacher and I’m thrilled to be starting my new job in 2021 in the region, sharing my passions of art and photography.

Where is Billie’s favourite spot to pose for her next post?
Billie’s little tail cannot stop wagging whenever we park at Lake Hamilton. She loves a photo exploring the lake and after a play at the dog park! We are so lucky to live close to the Dunkeld Arboretum, another iconic photo spot for Billie. The drive up through the Grampians ranges is always an adventure. She can’t help but have her paws up on the window taking in the sights. She’s made friends with a few kangaroos since living in Dunkeld, and she’s always on the lookout for another pal. She loves sitting in the car watching the Dunkeld Rams play football & enjoying a puppucino at Koopman’s. Billie also loves a short walk at the Hamilton Botanic Gardens. Billie is definitely living her best life in Greater Hamilton!

What’s the secret to Billie’s social media success?
Billie’s social media secrets are to have fun and interact with accounts she loves! We have made so many wonderful friends through Instagram. Collaborating with the likes of a boutique in Sydney or Australian dog brands has been surreal! She’s a little poser and has such a calm, beautiful temperament. She loves photos and I love taking them so we are the perfect team! I’m so lucky to have such a wonderful pup.

What’s next for Billie?
Our next destinations will be Wannon and Nigretta falls. We are looking forward to exploring the area and capturing some more photos!
