Welcome to HG:60 - Celebrating 60 Years of the Hamilton Gallery. Unearth some of the most significant objects from the gallery's over 9,000 collection, specially curated into one free exhibition that unveils our unique strengths and most acclaimed artists. As varied as it is impressive, HG:60 includes paintings, ceramics, sculptures, glass, porcelain, works on paper and other curious treasures acquired since opening in 1961. Nine scholars, curators and academics from across Australia have examined and researched four key collection areas; European Art, Decorative Arts, Australian Art and Asian Art. Alongside this exhibition, the gallery has undertaken the ambitious task of creating a collection publication; a remarkable coffee table book highlighting the exhibition curators' favourite collection pieces. HG:60 celebrations will also include an exhibition opening event, a full-day Symposium, conservator talks, guided tours and a gala dinner, to take place when restrictions allow for the celebration HG:60 deserves. The Hamilton Gallery has recently undergone a facelift and has developed new spaces including an improved Gallery Shop, children’s space and a new lift allowing all to access the first floor galleries. Exhibition entry is free, with the Gallery open seven days - see website for full details.
