Hamilton Tarrington Cycle Loop

Grade – Easy to Medium

Take the family on this easy ten-kilometre trail between Hamilton and Tarrington ideally situated on a dedicated bike/walking track . Breathe in the fresh country air as you ride down leafy country lanes, through pastoral landscapes and the charming streets of both Hamilton and Tarrington. You can choose your starting point and head in either direction. For those arriving in Tarrington enjoy a bite to eat, cappuccino or pinot noir at the café before returning. Nearby you will find Pierrepoint Winery offering cellar door sales with cheese platters. This is a trip that will be healthy, interesting and rewarding.

Lake Hamilton

Distance – 5km circuit

Grade – Easy

A highly rewarding ride for the whole family, this 5km ride entirely on gravel paths, will take you around Lake Hamilton with plenty of opportunities to stop and enjoy an abundance of wildlife and the beautiful vistas. Allow plenty of time when riding with a young family to ensure you can enjoy a play the Lakes Edge Adventure Playground. Lake Hamilton in a manmade lake, created in 1977 by the damming of the Grange Burn. The lake receives water from the agricultural land upstream of Hamilton and stormwater drains which run from the streets of Hamilton directly into the Lake. Popular among residents and visitors alike for picnics, walking, cycling, fishing and other water based activities.
